Resin Transfer Molding, is a low pressure, "closed mold" process.
This means that RTM parts are made by injecting liquid resin and
catalyst into a closed mold cavity containing dry fiber reinforcements.
Some of the benefits of this type of fiberglass manufacturing include:
fast cycle times, parts that can be
produced to very close tolerances, parts that are smooth on both sides,
and production rate capacity up to 10,000+ parts per year.
Glass fibre reinforced plastic is a great solution for
applications where metal is currently used.
Other RTM benefits include:
The dry fiber reinforcements can be glass, carbon, or other specialized materials to meet your needs. These fiber materials can also be custom configured (preformed) to enhance the production speed and reduce labor costs. The liquid resin is also available with many options, including: polyester, epoxy, vinyl ester, and others. Pigments and fillers can also be added to suit your part requirements.
Please be sure to contact us if you believe the resin transfer moulding process could provide a solution to your needs. You may wish to review our Products page to see examples where RTM molding is an ideal choice. We will be glad to answer your questions about fiber reinforced composites and provide advice based on our many years of experience. We will even recommend alternatives if the RTM process is not your best solution.
